I was having a particularly biting moment on Thursday - the guilt, the worry blah, blah, blah…. I rang the Crisis Team and tried to explain how I was feeling. The person on the other end said ‘Steve are you safe right now?’ - ‘Yes’ I replied. ‘Okay’ she said ‘If you and your family are safe now, hear and now, then focus on that. Don’t look to far ahead but just be happy that you family and safe right now’.

As obvious as this may seem to many of you I hadn’t looked at life as simple as that. Why look to far ahead? I don’t need to and right now looking too far ahead is too much for me. So I have tried to keep focusing on the ‘hear and now’ this weekend and it has helped.

Whether or not I will remember to think like this on Monday morning remains to be seen!

Hope you’re all doing well.

Steve

Hello Steve I pleased to know you have the support of the Crisis Team and that they have been quite helpful, I never heard about the concept of “Here and Now” and I am going to try to use it myself as well. As you can see I am already up, I woke up at 7.45 and it took me a whole hour to drag myself out of bed but I am improving that is the main thing. I can see that you still are suffering from the guilt of not being able to go to work, but you need to take the time to get better even if it takes months or years. You know you are so brave to carry on posting, you are keeping this forum going and I am sure that you are also helping other people who can relate to what you are going through.

I tried to post an answer yesterday but accidentally I deleted everything Aaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!. My weekend was quite busy between my voluntary work for the homeless, church and a first Aid course on Saturday I can feel the good feeling factor, I am also getting on well with my Group Therapy is twice a week and it can last to up to two years I have been so lucky to had given the chance of taking part in this Therapy. All the best for you and everybody Cristal cheese

Steve, I think concentrating on the “here and now” is very important. There’s nothing we can do about the past, and not much we can do about the distant future either, cos lets face it, nobody knows what’ll happen between then and now, so yes, I also think it is important to focus on the “here and now”. However, I’m a big thinker and deliberate for hours about the future and what might or might not happen if I do X or don’t do X, so I really understand.

Cristal, I’m really glad to hear that you have been continuing with your work to help other people. You really are an example to us all. Sorry I haven’t been on this website for a while, but I’ve been pretty busy and trying to sort out a few things in my life, as yet without much success.

Anyway, hope you are both OK and I’ll try to respond quicker in the future!
