Hello Aprille, do you know I sometimes get palpitations and I often get dizzy spells when I’m stressed and it can take a few days for me to work on calming myself down before they go. You poor thing.  I really have to make an effort to do things that normally instill calm before they go away, like lying down or sitting down quietly or having a bath or going for a walk in the country or a park.  You take care Aprille.  I hope that your day is getting better and that tomorrow is a brighter day for you.  The sun is going to shine anyway if you can get out in it at all.  Thinking of you.  Will

Thanks for the advice, I hope tomorrow will be better. I then need to tackle the work issue with the doc on Thursday.

Hi Helen, Doc signed me off for another month, not sure how I feel about that. He says my palpatations are due to anxiety. I had a good day on saturday we sat on the beach and watched the sea very nice, but then yesterday I had gone back to square 1. It seems 1 step forward and 2 back.
I have purchased your book so I will be getting into that this week. Thanks Aprille x

Hi Aprille, ooh by the sea…I’m jealous!  I’m so glad you had a good day on Saturday and sorry you dipped again on Sunday.  Can you pinpoint or think about a trigger or reason that you slipped back yesterday?  There might not be a reason.  Sometimes it just happens doesn’t it.  Sometimes my mood used to so tenuously be more positive on a day that the slightest thing could upset me and put me back to square one.  Even the way a barrista handed me a coffee could and often did reduce me to tears if I thought they were not nice enough (in my mind!) to me.  I used to keep a diary in the end which used to help and has helped a lot since to spot triggers for me.
There are certain things that I can do when I’m feeling really bad that I know work to make me feel better(exercise, laugh, a cappuccino, walk outside) but you know what - sometimes I do allow myself to give up for the day and try again tomorrow because often we can exhaust ourselves trying and might get a lot further if we allow ourselves to recharge and start again when we wake up in the morning.
‘Don’t be too hard on yourself and ‘treat yourself like you would your best friend’ are two pieces of advice that I got and I still find helpful and remind myself of.  Another one is to allow myself an allocated time slot when I can worry about my problems and stick to it rather than worry about them all day every day.  That way we are in contro,l which is empowering and good for depression;we are distracted from our problems again which is good and don’t ruminate and dwell day and night.  Also ‘you have to feed the host before the host can feed the parasites’(my friend’s advice - not the nicest way of putting it but I get what she meant and I think you do too.  It gives us permission to look after ourselves too because if we don’t we can’t help others).  I hope you’re feeling better today Aprille.  Helen

Hi Aprille, do you feel that you are getting the support you need and want from your doctor?  Has he given you a month off work with some guidance or are you being left to your own devices?  I do hope you’re feeling better.  Good to know that you’re capable off better days as well as bad ones.  I hope more of the good ones are on their way.  Best, Will
